    Basically what I need to do is to make a navigation area that moves when you hover over it to give it more emphasis when you need it, but I have little JS knowledge. I threw this together to sort of show what I want:

    But with that maybe have the text get bigger as you go over it and maybe have the whole navigation start out black and white but when you hover over it the color comes... I just need help finding tutorials or maybe some tips on how I can achieve this.

    This would be easier done with some simple CSS Pseudo-classes

    here's an example

    HTML Code:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "">
    <html xmlns="">
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <style type="text/css">
    a {
    	width: 300px;
    	text-align: center;
    	background: #CCC;
    	color: #000;
    	font-size: 28px;
    	display: block;
    	padding: 10px;
    a span {
    	font-size: 16px;
    a:hover {
    	padding-bottom: 20px;
    	background: #CCC;
    	color: #FFF;
    a:active {
    	padding-bottom: 30px;
    	background: #F00;
    	color: #0F0;
    <a href="#">Put your mouse over me! <span>then click me</span></a>
