I am really new to HTML so if I am not in the correct forum, or if anyone knows of a forum specifically for basic users, please advise.

What I am trying to do is have some text moving in from the Left when my page is opened & stop in the centre, is there anyway of doing this?

    Any help would be appreciated

    Regards
    Carly

I can think of alot of ways to do that but none of them use html. you could do that by learning another language like javascript or even just getting a script for it. you could also make something in flash if you know that program. but i dont know of anyways to move text with just html. sorry :/

I believe you can do it using DHTML (Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language) but don't hold me to it.

Take a look at http://www.dynamicdrive.com - thats where I find most of my DHTML stuff nowadays.

DHTML is just a mixture of HTML / CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) / JavaScript

    Try this out for starters:

you can move text in HTML by using the <marquee> tag.

    example:
    <marquee>text goes here</marquee>

you can define some properties aswell such as 'behavior="alternate"' which will make the text bounce back and fourth.
Im not sure if you can make it stop at a certain point though and it doesnt work in some versions of netscape..

I think (though correct me if I'm wrong) he wants it to fly in PowerPoint styleee. This would presumabely mean 'flying in' over other content, so I'm not sure a marquee would work... unless it was in a layer or something.
