    Does anyone know of anyway of using window.close () without windows popping up with "Do you want to close this window?"

    I don't think it is possible with a normal browser window.

    It can't be done for security (really annoyance, actually) reasons unless your code also opened the same window.

    Yeah, you can only close a window if it has been opened with:
    1. window.open
    2. window.showModalDialog
