Image slideshow

I need help. I want to add a slide show to the front page of my site and possibly to other pages. I need help with the coding. I have looked it up on the internet and found a few things but nothing is all together and doesn't tell you where to put everything. I am fairly new but have some knowledge. I want to use pictures and maybe videos together and/or separately. Can some body please help? If you need more info to help let me know.
