Ok, here’s the deal. I’m working on a site that would be perfect for draggable/collapsible "windows". Microsoft’s TechNet uses this script (HTML/DHTML/JavaScript only) that allows you to drag three windows on the right and rearrange them according to your needs. If you don’t need one of them, you can simply collapse them.

It also sets a cookie so it remembers the positions/status of the windows. Further, since the script doesn’t work in non-IE browsers, the dragging/collapsing is simply disabled.

I’ve spent about an hour trying to figure out how they did it and I’m just drawing up blanks. Does anyone know how they’ve done this or have seen any examples of this?

You must have Internet Explorer 5.0 and above to view this: technet.com

Simply go to the right and drag them above or below the others, or collapse and expand them. Go to another page, and then come back. It remembers where they are.

Any help would be greately appreciated!

They likely use DIVs to accomplish the task. You should check out http://www.youngpup.net to see some creative instructional ways of using divs creatively.

That site is pretty close to what you're looking for.

Can't access the MS CSS sheets though, so we can't see the exact code
