I am looking to make a site that would be simialr to a quiz script that would display the results in a bar graph, i can do both of those parts, but what i want to do is make the display cumulative so that it can show where they stand in relation to others that have taken it.

I have seen similar things done such as website polls, etc. but i would like to do it in javascript if at all possible. is that something that javascript can do? i know it can write out to the current document, but is it possible to write a different file to use as a data file then read that back in?

if not, which languages would be viable for this? i'm pretty sure i have seen it in php, but not positive.

thanks for any help you might be able to give.

Javascript can't do it because it's a client-side language; you need a server-side language like PHP, JSP, ASP, CGI, etc. to save the results of each votes, weed out double-voters, etc.

If you insert any other kind , I suggest you PHP than CGI. Or try remote hosted ...
