    I need to rewrite the URLs to redirect people from a cgi script to php script. I have tried a few things but can't get it to work

    I want /index.cgi?test to be rewriten as /index.php?id=test

    Can anyone help?

    RewriteRule /index.cgi?(.*) /index.php?id=$1
