    Hi,

I have been given the task of developing a program for Windows CE compatible handheld devices that allows you to view autocad files (dwg, dxf). It would also need to be able to add redline editing and transmit this information back and forth.

I've never done any programming like this before.

    1) I'd like to hear anyone's opinion on whether this first of all can be done. I've seen some screenshots (not many though) of programs for handheld devices and the graphics reminds me of the good ol dos days. Could an application that requires a fair amount of detailed graphics be suitable for handheld devices?

    2) I'd also like to know which programming language something like this would have to be written in. I'd most definately prefer to write this application in VB if possible.

    3) Can I be sure that an ocx control that works in VB that can display autocad files would also work in the Windows CE environment? If I have to write my own control I'll probably give up on this project as I'm not experienced enough to do so.

    Thanx for your time!

    Clint

I think I helped you out with this on VBForums... but for anyone else watching this thread...

Yes you can use VB, or VC to develop PocketPC, or WinCE Apps. You'll need the development kit addon fo these two enviroments. Here some good links concerning mobile development with M$.
