    is it possible to have a small browser window wthout toolbars etc. pop up when the site is entered without a main browser window being shown as opposed to the main browser window being shown containing a hyperlink to popup a small window?

    thanks

    yes, I've seen it done. You need a script on the main browser window that will popup the small one and then close the main browser window browser. It's just a combination of two scripts I believe that I've seen around the free script sites...

    there is no way (with javascript) to close your main window, after the popup, without it popping up a warning message:

    <body onLoad="setTimeout('poppage()', 1000);" onBlur="window.close()">

    My Suggestion would be to put a redirect in the onBlur tag to go to a "thanks for stopping" page or something along those lines:

    which would then make the onBlur tag this:

    onBlur="window.location='http://www.yoursite.com/thanks.html'; return true;">
