    Code:
           case PersonID > "" 'Initial Load for Modification
              strTemp0=CheckAvailability("Person",PersonID)
              strTemp0=SelectSQL(strTemp0,"NO LOCK")

              if instr(strTemp0,"NO LOCK")>0 then
                 Results = AllFromPerson(PersonID)
                 Results = SelectSQL(results,"")
                 Results = PageFromSQL(Results)
              else
                 'strTemp1 = ResetModify(Retrieve(strTemp0,chr(1),1))
                 strTemp1 = ResetModify("xxx")
                 response.redirect "TotalSQL.asp"
              end if
    The above code will check to see if the Demographics Table for personID is locked. It is locked if anything comes back from SelectSQL except NO LOCK. That Part Works.

    I'm getting a type mismatch upon calling the ResetModify
    Code:
    <SCRIPT language=javascript type=text/javascript>
     function ResetModify(ModText)
     {
     alert(ModText);
           //parent.frames['PatientDataFrame'].document.forms('TotalPat').ModifyButton.value=ModText;
           //Return TRUE;
     }

    </SCRIPT>
    am I doing something particularly stupid???

    Code:
    strTemp1 = ResetModify("xxx")
    ResetModify() doesn't return anything so this doesn't make sense.

    Whoa, wait: is this all supposed be Javascript or is the first bit supposed to be VBScript/ASP? If the former then the first code block is royally screwed up in syntax.

    Well ASP can't access Javascript because it's a server-side language and JS is client-side, unless that's a feature of ASP that I don't know about...

    Either way the JS looks perfect to me.
