I am looking at building a vacation rental managment site with a content managment system where owners could enter their own information to appear on the site. I have read in other forums that jomla is not a good program for this. Is that true and if so why?

Hi Joomla, does not have all the administrative controls that you would need for such a system...

There may however be a component (which you can install into Joomla) available which has this kind of functionality...

    Have a search :-)

You need a CMS that enables you to set up a custom database, and provides the ability to allow users with certain rights to enter certain content. You might find something like phpMyDirectory ( meets your needs. Most anything else is likely to require some custom programming.

This is the sort of thing that the CMS that my company provides,, will be able to do eventually, but right now our system would also require some custom programming to do this.
