Hello Everyone

I'm just recently coming back to web design from a long break.

I'm 22 living in then UK. Back when I was around 17 I took a part time web design course at college which was a basic HTML/CSS course and they made us use dreamweaver :hot: lol (Loving these smilies)
I done that course I basicaly just worked on it for a year or so by my self, the whole trial and error route.

I decided it was time I tried to make a little money at this so when I was around 20 at the time. I made around 4 websites to advertise my self as I'd make it then a few weeks later I'd re-design becuase I wasn't happy.

I kept on like this with practically zero break through into the freelance world :disagree: The only work I had was some semi regular PSD/Xhtml conversions from a local uni student who had too much work. I'd get the odd 50 - 200 from him which was OK-ish. I was woking part time in a shop while doing this so I had a little cash coming my way, I didn't have to depend on the money from the sites I was building.

Then one day out of the blue I got my claim to fame I had a call from a production company asking if I can go in to their office to chat about a project. I assumed and hoped that it was just going to be a standard static CSS site, mainly becuase I didn't know much at all and still don't have PHP and other server stuff. To my surpise the contract was dealing with a VERY high profile client. A price comparison website that needed to replica of thier site built with slight differences in the page to use in their TV adverts. I was absolutely flying, I was on such a high.

I did 3 of these contracts then it just ended. When I saw the new adverts on TV I realised they have changed their adverts in a big way and they weren't using footage of the site any more. That was it for me. I never got any other work.

I decided it was getting a bit boring now. No work coming in so I decided to just call it a day. I took a full time job working in the shop I was at (even though I hated it) and moved on.

Recently I've been made redundant and passed my class 1 HGV licence. I know it a bit random but I've always wanted to do it.

The reason I looked for a web design forum is becuase I'm redesigning my HGV training providers website as a favor for all he's done for me. It was so good getting back into notepad ++ after sooooo long.
This is the new site I'm designing.

[ Edit: Link removed. If you want us to see your siite, please post it in the "Ratings and reviews" forum. AlphaMare. ]

Hopefully I'll be doing a few more sites soon and I might start looking back into PHP as I started it before but like I said I just dropped all of it.

Cheers, I know that was a long introduction post but there is no point just saying hi and being boring is there :adolf:

EDIT: Sowey I didn't notice the intro sub category. Can someone move this for me please?

Cheers for the warm welcome.

I wasn't sure if the link would be OK or not in my post, so I'll post up a topic in the review area.
