Hi all, just joined today! Didnt even know there was a forum for webdesign, so wish I'd found this sooner! I have been in to webdesign for roughly 3 years, and am basically self taught through researching any problems I've come across. I run my own web based car club on a phpbb forum, which I've customized and modified. I'm confident in editing CSS, and editing php aswell. I'm still a long long way off being compitent though! lol

I want to learn as much as I can on web design, as it's something I really enjoy. I've set up my own web design site, to build websites for people, so hoping to get onto a course asap to learn things properly! Had a good look around here, and so far theres been loads of topics that have caught my eye! What a brilliant forum!

Hope to speak to you all soon, and go easy on me, as I tend to ask loads of questions! (if you dont ask, you never know!)

Welcome to the forums! It's good to see such enthusiasm.

You'll find us a very varied group when it comes to experience and expertise, but one thing we all have in common is that we are here to learn and help others learn as well.

Reading all the questions and answers here has taught me more than I could ever have learned on my own. I hope your experience here will be as good.

Oh no. You're new...and you're going to ask questions? I'm not sure we can allow for that. You might actually learn how to do stuff.

Seriously, I like the idea that you're trying to learn and get better. That's what we all should do (and most of us seem to miss). Be careful with the course you pick, though. Most of them, if not all of them, teach dinosauric concepts such as table-based layouts and Dr*amw*av*r and you'll have to unlearn a lot of what you paid to find out if you're not wise.

Check with us before you sign up and spend money. No point in wasting it, right?

Thanks for the welcome guys. Thanks for the heads up about the courses TheGAME, will deff let you all know the ones I look at. Know what you mean about DW, for webdesign I personally can't stand it! lol It's good for editing the css, html and php files though, but appart from that it's not a program I'd rate. I'm using wysiwyg for the design stuff, as it's fast and easy to use. I will have to learn how to create the designs using just html code at some point though, can't rely on the software all the time lol

Indeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed you cannot. Using the WYSIWYG aspects of DW in particular will get you into trouble. But again, at least you're willing to learn...and eventually, what I just said will take on a context of its own in your mind.
