I just switched my website over from the servers at ripplehost.com to cernax.com. Weird thing is, is that on ripplehost's servers, my umlauts show up. on Cernax's servers, they only show up in IE. I use FireFox myself.

here's some linkage - old server - www.uberreef.com
new server - http://artemis.webserverdns.com/~uberree/

Any Ideas what's going on here?

Thanks much

- Chris

EDIT: By the way, in FireFox, the actual source HTML that gets sent to the browser is altered to replace the umlauted U with a <?> character.

Well, I asked around, and was told to replace all the oddball characters I have on my site like the Ü and « characters with the appropriate Ü «, etc.

New Problem - This works in regular text, but not in links or my title... Any Suggestions? This is a pretty bogus problem to have, I think. Maybe I should drop Cernax and move to another host.

Hey Holokai!

I use Cernax myself, their support is excellent, I wouldn't let something like this cause you to move hosts... Once I completely erased my site by restoring with a backup that was blank, I submitted a support ticket and about an hour later they had it restored from backups of their own!

I'd definetly stick with them, don't let umlauts switch you away!

Well, I actually *THINK* I fixed it... still testing. I am very pleased with their support as well, they accidentally set my site up wrong, and one of their people spent a good 1.5 hours with me figuring it out and fixing it.
