I have quite a few website written in PHP/MySQL. I use include files for connecting to the database. The files are in an open directory. Is there any way someone could download these files and open them? I know if they run it from the server, it won't show anything, but is there any way they can run the file from their local machine? If there is, what is the best solution for this?

Best to store them outside of the web root folder.
