    Hello:
I am not sure I am in the right forum. I have a client that uses PHP on her site. She wants a sales letter sent automatically when someone fills out her form. The email address would have to be captured somehow and then the letter sent to the email address automatically upon receipt of the form to her mailbox. How is this done? I do not know PHP, but can pass this information on to the web designer that she has that uses PHP. I just do the content. Thanks.

    It's fairly easy.

The submitted form should have at least one field - the email address. You can also add fields like names and any other data you want to capture.

This form then gets submitted to a PHP script. The script then validates the data (to avoid hacking attempts) and then when everything is clean, it: 1. saves it to a file or database; 2. sends out an email to the address.

The mailing can be done using the mail() function in PHP. Look it up at the http://php.net website.

    That's the basic framework.
