How do I get the file modified or created date? I know its possible in PHP but the function name eludes me.

No, basically I will just be checking against the value of it.
    [pseudocode and php]
    If (file_modification($file) < $last_known_value) then update $last_known_value to file_modification($file)
    [/pseudocode and php]

    Cheers

I don't understand the point of that. Instead of updating it why not just grab the lastest change time since it will always be right?

To save the update of a database.. why update if the value you will be replacing it with is the same?

I didn't know there was any DB involved... I thought it was just in the scope of that script. I guess I shouldn't talk before I know all the details.
