Well, I'm taking the risk to sound stupid.....but I have no idea how to make a forum. I am working on a webpage right now, and I would like to add a forum to my page. Since I don't know how to make one, I would greatly appreciate if someone could either tell me how to accomplish this or direct me to a place where I could find out information about this.

    Thank you

People usually use forums that have already been made. Making one isn't a small task.

I suggest phpbb.com as it's free. However, you could use invision power board.

I think phpBB is hideous (also vBulletin for some UIs) but each to his own. There's also IPB which is quite popular.

vBulletin, which is what this site uses, is $160 plus $30 for each subsequent year when you want upgrades excluding critical security fixes.

Your host might have Fantastico which supports automated installations of some free forum solutions.

Fantastico is good but most of the scripts that come with it are the free 1s that nobody really wants to use

Okay, so this question is a little bit old, but since I had the same one, I'll just build onto this one... I have never used a forum myself and a potential new client has asked me if I can do one. I said I'm sure I can find one, etc. Now, if I wanted to direct him to some of the options discussed, what are the best sites from which to download forum software? and for getting information?

    Thanks so much!

I have an eye for detail like you'd never believe.
