    Hey all!!
I was wondering if anyone knew any good scripts to set up email campaigns. Would this most easily be accomplished by creating templates and then just using cron jobs to send them out? Let me know...

Check with your webhost first to see what limitations they
have on sending emails. Many are limiting how many per hour/day,
and how quickly they get sent. You might end up using a service
that deals with Newsletters only ... it can get expensive.

Well given the situation I am in right now, spending any kind of money on this would be silly. I would only need to send out like maybe 300 e-mails. Would this best be accopmlished using cron jobs?

CRON is a timer service that executes scripts or commands at pre-determined times and intervals. You'll still need to use a webhost (or your own server) to actually send the emails. If your host allows 300+ to be sent at one time, you'll be able to use CRON to schedule that job. If your host only allows something like 10 emails at a time, with a 60 second pause before the next 10, you'll have a tough time scheduling that with CRON.

I'm using one webhost (Netfirms.com) that only allows 300 emails to be sent once per day only. Another webhost I've used IpowerWeb, only allows 10 emails per minute with a total daily limit (not sure what that is).

So again, it's a great idea to use CRON to schedule the mass send at pre-determined time, but make sure you can send 300 before you spend too much time on your scripting.
