    No I believe not. $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] is set by the web server installed on your system and refers to the IP address that the request is coming from. The request comes from the proxy server. That's why people use proxy servers to hide their surfing. It just cannot be determined, unless you have a script that literally hacks into the proxy server to check the user's IP address. And even then I doubt it is possible.

    It would kinda defeat the point of using a proxy if a simple PHP script could find out the original IP requesting the page.

    Try
    Code:
    function getIPAddress() {
        if (isset($_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR'])) {
            return $_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR'];
        }
        else {
            return $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];
        }
    }

    @leprechaun13 & dchesterton
    It won't work if you connect through an anonymous proxy. Read this for more information:

    Anonymous proxies don't pass through the appropriate info (on purpose), whereas proxies in general do.
