    I want to know if anyone knows of a script to edit the passwords in these files. this is more for other users then myself to change there own password. If anyone can help i would be greatful

    You can't change the password from the .htaccess file. The passwords are stored in another file, encrypted. You need SSH access to the server in order to change the passwords.

    I am sorry i must have not worded this very well, I know the functions that allow you to open, edit and such on files, I also know it is .htpasswd that am looking for, however i don't know the exact method of encrypting the data so it can be read properly.
