The script will loop through roughly 30 rows once a day.

It will extract one column from the schema, check for any old data, if any data is found to be old, it is not added to a buffer string.

Relevant data is stored in this buffer string, which at the end of the process gets put back in to that row's column. Then onto the next.

I have used cron jobs for a friend before, but never myself.

I am just wondering if this sounds extensive to happen once a day?

    Not at all ....

The CRON job just runs a script ... it would be the same as if you
displayed a dynamic webpage, that also runs PHP scripts. If you
had 1000 visitors per day to a dynamic page, that would run the
PHP script way more than your CRON job.

    Thanks,

Actually, since I think about it, this could be run once a week, or once a day, just depends how up to date I want the data.

If you have a known webpage where people visit on a regular basis,
you could include your PHP script inside that page and run it whenever
someone visits the page. Then, you save yourself one CRON job for
    some other use.

Yeah I know, but that relies on users. Cheers
