    I'm interested in geting to know and use PHP, however I can't find anything out there. I don't know any of the jargon, I can't find anything that would give me a good grounding and I can't see anything here on this forum to help me out! Even the stuff that was written by "n00bs" I cant get my head around, so you can well imagine what stage I'm at!!
    And a bit of a background if it helps, I've extensivly used HTML for a lot of websites, plus I've also played around with Javascript a little and CSS a bit more now.

    Can anyone point me to anything that will get me going on my way?

    Thanks!

    EDIT: Shouldnt have been in starting out should it have?aranoid:

    Google is the best place ... search: PHP 101

    Things like this:
    http://devzone.zend.com/node/view/id/627

    But you also posted in this forum. WDF is the best forum on the internet!

    1) make sure your webhost allows PHP ... pretty much a standard now.
    2) you can't run your PHP scripts on your PC unless you have a server,
    so create your scripts using Notepad and upload them to test them out.
    3) your files will have the extension .php

    copy this into Notepad:

    <?php
    echo "hello world";
    ?>

    save it as: test.php

    upload into your main webpage directory online

    Go to your website ... example: www.mysite.com/test.php

    There you go ... your first PHP script.

    You will also most likely need to buy a book on PHP programming...to use as a reference.
