I've been looking at some different frameworks such as Kohana, Symphony, etc.. and haven't found many people using the Yii framework. I was wondering if anyone has used it or even played around with it yet? It seems promising...

Never heard of Yii. I've seen Kohana, though. Looks decent.

I was going to, like you say it seemed promising after reading through the documentation about it I was really geared up. Then i downloaded it and had to install it via command line.

Any php script i have to install via command line i automatically delete!
Providing you're happy with scripts that you have to do that then go for, it did look pretty promising via the docs.

Another one people seem to rave about is CodeIgniter. I had a look at that one aswell, but I found it had a bit of a learning curve (although could probably be attributed to the fact i was still learning MVC at the time!), so i may have to have another look at it, but a lot of people seem to rave about it and it does seem to get the job done.

Kohana is a branch of CodeIgniter. They're very similar.
