    Hi all,

I like to use notepad to edit my HTML websites. However, I could see some benifit to me using an editor that has a line count and the ability to color different code to make it easier to see/organize.

Can i get recommendations to extremly basic programs such as note pad but with the above couple of features I am looking for. A few other features in the program wont turn me away.

    Thanks
    Chris,

Sounds to me like you're looking for Notepad++. It appears as light-weight as notepad (opens basically instantly) and has the line number feature and syntax highlighting.

There are benefits with IDE's such as Netbeans though, such as syntax error checking and many other helping features. But if you're looking to keep it simple then most people on this forum I think would recommend NP++.

Interesting. Thanks for the reply Ganners.

I will check out Netbeans and see if its to much of a program for me or not. I dont like bulky programs but the error checking would be a handy feature with my level of php and so on.

    Thanks again
