    Interesting.. So modular in this sense would mean a piece of code you can take from one application and plug into another. If that is the case then the Zend Framework packages are actually the best example; this is why Google used it for their PHP data API's.

    So I guess this might also mean you should look at some Zend Framework books, look at some of the videos on Zend's website etc.

    no. i am actually looking for a book regarding good php website architecture amalgamated with mysql. I am not looking for ready made code. I will be starting a website were content is generated on the fly and extracted from database and i want to have some more detailed info on this. the website will actually have a glossary and data extracted from mysql database.

    thank you in advance for any suggestions.

    Zend is not ready-made code, per se. It's a modular MVC development framework, and would probably suit your needs.
