I have had experience with HTML for the past 5 years or so. I used to write all my HTML by hand, but recently discovered the wonders of Dreamweaver. I also am experienced with Adobe Photoshop, which I use to design the sites.

Now, I've heard about so many web programming languages, like PHP, Perl, JavaScript, ASP, etc. I'm curious to know which one would be best to learn. Basically, I'm looking to make my life easier regarding content, scripting, etc. for websites. To the best of my knowledge, I think PHP or ASP are what I'm looking for, but which one is better overall?

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for books or websites to learn either PHP or ASP, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks!

Start off with PHP. It's easier to use, free, and has more freeware scripts and snippets available.

I would learn some JavaScript. The syntax for PHP is very similar, so it will be a doddle to learn after that.
