Unless you have one php page with multiple pages of dynamically generated content... eg:

    thread.php?thread_id=19584
    thread.php?thread_id=19585
    thread.php?thread_id=19586

Search engines in general don't like content that's dependent upon or changes with querystring parameters.

WDF effectively hides URL arguments by making them part of the file requesting itself. Interally, Apache is translating the request for, for example, thread8589.html, to showthread.php?threadid=8589. The specific part of the rewriting rule:
    Code:
    # Threads
    RewriteRule ^thread(.*).html showthread.php?threadid=$1
    RewriteRule ^thread(.*)page(.*).html showthread.php?threadid=$1&pagenumber=$2
