Too difficult to answer, because everyone has different past knowledge. I learned BASIC back in 1976 and C++ in the 80's. So PHP was easy for me. Just having past programming knowledge made it easy to understand and implement. If you have had some javascripting experience, that would help you to pick-up PHP easier. Having no experience with ANY programming languages ... I would say it will be harder to learn PHP.

You have WordPress as your Avatar, so you should be learning PHP, MySQL and specifically MySQLi
I assume you are pursuing development with PHP powered sites like WordPress?

Lee, if you're going to learn PHP, you need to spell it correctly. You've spelled it backwards. Please fix your post so other people will understand what you're talking about and try again.

If you are new to the development field then any language will be a bit difficult to understand but if you really wish to do then nothing can stop you.
To start with web development, get solid understanding of HTML and CSS first.
It's really up to personal preference and hard work.
    All the best!

Having a good PHP IDE (my favourite is NuSphere PHPEd but I've heard good things about PHPStorm as well) makes learning the language a whole lot easier so consider investing in one. It will highlight any syntax errors as you type and give you code-hinting and code-insight to guide you along the way.
