Is it possible to use argument's like this when creating a function?

    function user_login($username=$_POST[username],$password=$_POST[password])

If not, what syntax would work?
    Any suggestions?

I believe you're required to have literals (and maybe constants) when using optional arguments (i.e., that won't work).
