Hi, A few months ago I was top of google for my name. Not a big deal but it was still quite nice. Whats more the meta description I had would appear in google. I then moved host to 1 & 1, since then i have been nowhere under searchs for 'Damien O'Neill' and the description when you do find the site is not there! :ermm:

    Any ideas?

    Damien O'Neill

You are missing the keywords meta tag. Furthermore your front page is almost devoid of content. These 2 alone are definately harming your ratings.

Google doesn't use the keywords meta tag.

Well, the first thing that caught my attention was the lack of content. Try adding the "keywords" that you want people to find you when they search to your content. Don't overdo it, and add the same words/phrases dozens of times on each page, but write honestly, and add the "keywords" that way.

Google can also pull a description from your Dmoz listing - though I don't know if you have your site listed there.

Also, I read in a book somewhere that said taht you could get up top easier if you use a 'descriptive' title for your home page as well...

Yes you want to place your primary keywords/phrase within your <title> tags.

Yup, I have actually fixed the problem now and am going back up google rankings. Combination of adding a site map, getting links (applied but still am not in DMOZ yet) and chaining the meta description and first paragraph.

Now I have to figure out how to boost indivdual pages, such as instead of this being high:

    Christine Almond Flash Site

I need this one to be high

    Christine almond's actual flash site

The problem is its in flash. How does google deal with a page that is mostly flash?
