    Quick question.

    As I've never really bothered with alexa rankings. Id like to know what Alexa ranking would be equivalent to a Google PR10?

    EDIT: Just wrote a Alexa Rank Finder Tool Using XML. Youll need the code below and attached XML class.
    PHP Code:
    <?php
    include 'clsParseXML.php';

    $xmlparse = &new ParseXML;
    // Put XML Into Array
    $xml $xmlparse->GetXMLTree("http://alexa.com/xml/dad?url=philbaucutt.co.uk");

    $alexarank $xml['ALEXA']['0']['SD']['0']['POPULARITY']['0']['ATTRIBUTES']['TEXT'];

    // If no Information Is Found Return Error.

    if ( $alexarank != "") {
            echo
    $alexarank;
        }
        else
        {
            echo
    "Error: No Alexa Ranking Information Found";
        }
    ?>
    Regards Phil,

    Alexa and PageRank are both used for measuring popularity, but using different methods.. Alexa tracks the web usage of people with their toolbar, while Google uses its PageRank system. Totally different.

    Thus, an alexa rank of 1 doesn't mean a Google PageRank of 10.

    Alexa ranking affects SERP ranking?

    A low ranking on Alexa does not indicate that the traffic is not being generated on www.google.co.in, www.search.yahoo.com and www.search.msn.com search engines. My hotel website http://www.fortunehotels.in is having low ranking in Alexa but good showing in other search engines.

    Because alexa is using a toolbar for their ranking, it is easily manipulated by users. Thus, it should not be used for any serious traffic research

    Alexa rankings have got nothing to do with PR values of the sites because they are controlled by two different companies. You might find a site having Alexa ranking of 1000 and be at PR4 while another site which has the ranking of 25000 might have the PR of 5.

    PR is controlled by Google company and many times lower PR sites are doing even better than High PR competitors.

    Alexa ranking is not worth to even consider .It has very vague concept of ranking ..It calculates ranking based on the clicks from user using their toolbar.

    It SHOULD translate as such. Alexa rank 1 = "The #1 trafficked website in the world". Such a highly trafficked website should get a very high page rank with Google.

    That's not true. That makes it a statistics-based website. Good for getting a general idea of what's going on in the web in general. Works well for larger sites. Not so well for smaller sites.

    It's akin to market research / surveying.
