I have been reading recently on the search engines hand picking SOME of their results. In some situations I just have not seen any consistency with the rankings and what the serps say you need to be doing to rank well.
I had read somewhere that google does hand pick some results and I just read this article, http://www.ahfx.net/weblog/90, about msn doing it.
    Any thoughts on this?
I think it is a bad idea. For one, it is going to turn into dmoz where eventually the right sites are ranking well. For two, you would have to have someone that knows that specific area or industry to really pick them well and there would probably be a conflict of interest there.
