    Hi everyone

    I wondered -whats the best method by which to embed a little swf into a static page which takes into account both cross browser compatibility and SEO? Ideally, for people with no flash player, I'd like to be able to display a jpeg instead.

    I used Dreamweaver Cs4s automated way of doing it, which doesn't display properly in IE

    The site in demo is at www.ameliealden.com/winninghealth/index.php (the little logo is on the top left) - in Firefox it's fine, but doesn't work in IE, and i was concerned it wasn't the best way, anyway. I looked at a few tuts/articles, all saying different things.

    Can anyone advise me?

    Thanks!
    Emma

    You can use this technique:
    http://theinfiniteloopblog.com/progr...ipstechniques/
    This isnt exactly what you want to do, but this is SEO for flash.

    raceanalyser.com
    This site is something I did for a client and it does exactly what you want.
    Take a look @ the view source and the jquery.scripts.js file.

    Use an image tag in the div.
    $("document.ready"){function(){
    var hasflash=$.flash.available;
    if(hasflash){
    $("#flash-banner").html("");
    $("#flash-banner").flash({
    swf: '/flash/newflash.swf',
    width: 742,
    height:150,
    menu:false
    });
    }
    });

    Basically you use an image tag in the div (here my div has the id flash-banner.
    If flash is available, we set the html of the div to "" (this will get rid of the image)
    Then we load the flash object into the div.

    This requires JQuery and SwfObject JQuery plugin.
    You can get both of those from my blog post

    for the <h1> text replacement </h1>
    You can use WHATEVER html content you like in the div (make this the SEO friendly stuff). Then load flash into it using jquery and swfobject.

    hope this helps.

    You should fix your url to make it more SEO friendly. Also the load time is a bit slow and google recently started taking into effect page load times in how it ranks.

    but really nice site btw
