It's confusing to see that you just posted a series of very elementary questions in the SEO section (this one, as well as "How do you optimize a web page?" and "What is a rel canonical?") yet your web site touts "We are the SEO Experts you are looking for."

These aren't the questions of an SEO expert, so it seems like either:
    • You're trying to inflate your post count and/or posting for some perceived SEO benefit
    • You're misrepresenting your SEO expertise on your web site

Maybe there's some third possibility I'm overlooking, could you enlighten me?

Just a recommendation, since I am working in SEO for a while: don't skip the nofollow links! Okay, don't waste too much time on them, but it is good to have some, especially if the websites on which they are posted are very relevant and high profile.

The noindex value of an HTML robots meta tag requests that automated Internet bots avoid indexing a web page.
To really understand what is going on with follow vs. no follow links, we need to provide a bit of background about how most links work in the realm of SEO. When a site page gets an inbound link, which is a hyperlink pointing to that page, the page gets a small SEO boost. Think of a link as a point, and the more links you have, the more points.

It is a tag which means Google will not crawl your website or a particular link. Due to this your website will not be visited by the crawlers.

I will tell you in simple words,

Noindex - It suggest to search engine not to index a specific webpage
Nofollow- It suggest to search engine not to pass link equity through links on a webpage.

No index, no follow implies that the search engine robots do not crawl the particular link or webpage. This ensures that the webpage or the link is never indexed in Google.
