    subdomain more helpful than microsite?

After the old company has been bought by the new company, they integrated the old site but left out the shop part because it is an individual development and did not fit into their cms. The shop runs now under the old domain (as a microsite).

The problem now is that the shop has a bad visibility because all the sponsoring backlinks and so on point to the new company domain. There is only one link 'to the shop' from the new company site.

Here the question: Would it be better to the visibility to run the shop under a subdomain (eg. than under a separate domain (eg.

    Thanx for your help.

The answer is "neither". It would be better to run the shop where it was before and to make the CMS fit the shop. The company may very well have done permanent damage by not thinking things through all the way.

But if you absolutely must pick one of the two, I would say use the old domain. There may be other links out there that you haven't considered that point to your old domain (check your traffic stats) and there's not a lot of point in redirecting those users. This is a marketing answer, though, and not an SEO SEO isn't links and links aren't SEO.
