Question Getting 2 strange errors on my Google Search console. Anyone knows what these are?

    Hi,

I am getting 2 strange errors on my search console, I have looked up online and there is nothing related to this. I am guessing have to do with my website's internal search.

Please see the attached files. How do I fix these?

    Screen Shot 2016-11-13 at 6.51.03 AM.jpgScreen Shot 2016-11-13 at 7.11.19 AM.jpg

Error message "The target URL doesn't exist, but your server is not returning a 404 (file not found) error. Learn moreYour server returns a code other than 404 or 410 for a non-existent page (or redirecting users to another page, such as the homepage, instead of returning a 404). This creates a poor experience for searchers and search engines."

Should I block these urls in the robots.txt file like:
    Disallow: /search/%7Bquery%7D/

My sitemap is clean and I am not linking to these urls anywhere on my site or off my site.

I am using WordPress and Yoast SEO Plugin.

    Thank you!

You may not be linking to those pages, but that doesn't mean no one is. Script kiddies quite often program rogue bots to "create" pages like the search page full of other people's content and show the "results" as their own. I've seen this before.

I'd try to generate a 404 or 410 status code for that page if I could. The only thing I saw on it was a spinning AB logo. You could block the URLs, but then you'd have to block any and all future URLs that are generated. Much easier to just put a proper 404 status code in for pages that don't exist.

Any developer who knows how can do that. It's a single line of code, depending on your language/framework used.

Here it is in PHP (explained about as obtusely as most PHP is explained):

    PHP: http_response_code - Manual
