Hey. this is my first post here, however I am looking for a UK based host and domain registering company. I am not after many features, just a reasonable amount of space and bandwidth. However I would need to pay them by postal order as I do not have credit or debit card.

    Thankyou for your time.

A UK host i have used is www.supanames.co.uk

Their service is pretty good. I'm not sure if they accept postal orders though.

I myself found UK hosting to be over-priced. Many of the US based ones are much better value for money.

Thanks. the only reason I mentioned UK hosting, is because I thought it would be easier to pay them rather than US

    Any other suggestions?

There's no problem with paying in US$ from a UK pound sterling bank account.

The amount according to the prevailing exchange rate is simply deducted from your bank account.

So that paying for $10 would result in something like 6.23 being deduction from your UK account. And the advantage of paying by credit or debit card is that there is no commission involved in the transaction.

I use US services - much cheaper for the same quality - and have five hosting accounts in the USA. And the only UK server space I use is actually paid for through a US company.

bfsog, a word to the wise: try to keep your domain registration separate from your hosting fees. That way, if your host jerks you around or goes out of business, the domain name is still legally registered to you. Many hosts who register domains "free of charge" for their customers register it for themselves and, when the customer cancels the account, say, "well, you can have your domain name but it will cost you $XXX (where $XXX is usually three digits and significantly more than the actual cost of the domain.) Go with GoDaddy or someone like that to register your name.
