    hi guys.

I was reading everything on this thread (and most of the forum) and find this info very useful.

    I am considering GoDaddy.com and Namecheap.com now.

But I was wondering what you guys thought of http://www.cheap-domainregistration.com/ ? I was on the search for CHEAP domain registration and found that site. I'm not sure exactly of all the features EXACTLY but I read the FAQ page and it seems to offer all the usual.

    Whatcha thing? Bad or good?

Also, a large concern of mine is the whole lack of privacy on WHOIS. At the cheap domain registration site, it offers you domains by proxy for $12.95 a year. Is this something that is worth it? Are there cheaper places where I can get third aprty domain registration so my personal info isn't seen by EVERYONE?

You're best off just paying the IIRC now-less-than-$8 for GoDaddy which is now a firmly established, reputable registrar. No point in saving a few cents or a dollar and taking the risk.

    yes, you're right.

And GoDaddy appear to be having a special on private registrations today...but usually it's $12. Good stuff

Though I doubt I'll buy it today ...

    Unless you're looking for a registrar that takes PayPal . . . then it's a different story.

Just for the record, cheap-domainregistration appears to be a GoDaddy reseller. A lot of the services and prices look very similar (hey Traffic Blazer, how are ya?) That's why they, like GoDaddy, offer anonymous registrations (i.e. domains by proxy).

I've tried the domains by proxy service for a personal domain site (that was only up for about a month anyway) and everything else functioned as it normally would. I just wanted to find out more about the product itself. My attitude on it is that if you have a domain name that you aren't necessarily looking to use commercially and you want to protect your home info, use the private registration feature. Otherwise, it's a bit of a waste of money.
