after a long stall on my ninecubed band project i have finally decided after a long talk with the lead singer to restart the project. However, he wants a domain name, and is pretty computer illiterate, so im wondering where would be the cheapest place for him to register a domain name??

You could try 00server.com this is free but it has a .0me or .00go at the end. It provides free 20 megs web space and it's easy to upload your web files to it.

Another free one is a .cjb.net domain but as you can tell it has a .cjb at the end. I don't know much about this one.

These both have pop-ups and banner advertisments but you can pay a small fee of like 2.99 a month to keep them away.

Though i haven't tried Godaddy.com i here it's good so might like to try that.

edit jr: fixed links (it is url not link)

i dont see why you should pay 2.99 a month to get rid of adverts when you can get a domain and a good hosting pacakge for that much

I highly recommend GoDaddy, you can even use their free forwarding service, and forward your users to some free webspace that your ISP may provide you. Using their cloaking option ($5/year) users won't see the new address, they'll still see your .com. This can be confusing though to visitors and make bookmarking hard (similar to frames). You can find hosting deals for just dollars a month too, so it shouldn't be that much of a bank breaker.
