    Okay.. is creating a .htaccess file the best route to go to secure folders in my hosting directory? just so clients have to enter pw to access files to d/l?

    which would b e the best route to approach this ?

    Hi,
    It's a very secure way of doing things and if you don't have hundreds of clients who require a seperate username and password it's probably the best way to go.
    It's quick and it does the job.

    If you have lots of clients and users to manage I'd go down the route of having a document management system or some sort of CMS document storage so you can farm out usernames and passwords easily and keep track of the users that forget their usernames and passwords!
