I am the web designer for a website. Unfortunately the previous owner of the domain let it expire. I have been informed by my client to repurchase the domain. It expired on the 1st September, but everywhere I try it is still listed as unavailable. The whois info is:
    Registrant type:
    UK Individual

    Registrant's address:
The registrant is a non-trading individual who has opted to have their
address omitted from the WHOIS service.

    Registrar:
    LCN.com Ltd t/a lowcostnames.co.uk [Tag = AI]
    URL: http://www.lowcostnames.co.uk

    Relevant dates:
    Registered on: 01-Sep-2003
    Renewal date: 01-Sep-2007
    Last updated: 23-Sep-2005

    Registration status:
    Renewal required.
*** This registration has been SUSPENDED. ***
So my question is this: How long before this is publically available again for purchase?
    Thanks

Odd, for that same URL I got this from dnsstuff.com:

    Relevant dates:
    Registered on: 29-Feb-2000
    Renewal date: 29-Feb-2008
    Last updated: 29-May-2007

Assuming the URL you posted is correct, I'd find out who it was registered with in the first place and contact them.

I purposely haven't posted the URL. The URL in the post is the name of the registrar the address is currently with. I'm a bit weary of contacting them direct as they may demand a higher than usual cost. How long until it is free from them holding it ransom?

I think after your domain name expires, you have a grace period for renewal. Why not just renew it?

You should have up to a 60 day renewal.
Plus, most legitimate registrars won't jack you when you go back to them to renew/repurchase it.
By doing nothing, you will lose it.....

The domain was purchased by the original webmaster, who has since moved on. I do not have access to his details. It's been long past 60 days, yet this domain is still listed as registered
