Just wondered why you ended up with the domain name you've got ?
    :surprised:
I spent hours thinking up lots of names but after trying them out. I found that every one of them was already taken. I then started putting random words into a "buy a domain name" box and after another few hours, ended up looking at the time and it was 12 NOON.
    :classic:
What a silly way to end up with a domain name !

Mine took me about 45 minutes to figure out. I wanted a name for my web design company. I also wanted to use my first name instead of my last name for directory listing purposes (names with A end up at the top of directory listings). I also wanted a .ca and a .com, since I wanted to use the .ca for search engine purposes and the .com to tell people offline. I went through about 6 or 7 different names that were all taken before I hit upon adamwebdesign.ca (and .com).

So I guess the best way to sum that up is I went with the name my parents gave me and the business I'm in.

I had a list of about 200 names. I spent about 4 hours brainstorming and wrote them all down.

Then I typed up my list in order of preference.

Finally, I went and tried them out. I wound up with 2 of them.

Since then, I've had many ideas for names... I now have about 20. In fact, I thought of one yesterday - GRAPHONOMICS.COM - unfortunately, taken

I had a list, like many other people, however I ended up with thebigdesigncompany.net.

My dad suggested it, and I really liked the idea. It works on several levels - for a start it's a one man band operation and that one man is only 15

It's one hell of a long domain name to give out though, so I'm also getting tbdc.co.uk and many variations as soon as I've got my current projects out of the way and need to start advertising.

I have ny-tech.net, for New York Technics. And net because I'm working on a few sites around the main site.

I have two other domains, which I grabbed from some expired list. They were a combination of brainstorming and search for keywords for availability. They are webspacegurus.com and ohdomains.com

nice graphic work nsr81. i never saw your domains until now. they'll inspire me.

zioncreation.com came to me because of my name
zion: heavenly or ethereal I suppose
locke: john locke an english philosopher
    zionlocke: philosopher of heaven

i first thought of ziondesigns.com but that is taken and zioncreation is catchy. it took me about 2 hours to discover it, and about three days to decide to purchase my first web domain and host.
    Cheers, zionlocke :chinese:

Yes! sometimes it takes long to find good available domain. If your brand name is already taken I can suggest you to use kewords related to your web site. Maybe you'll find appropriate combination.

I was just fooling around with em one day and found mine. A bunch of others that I wanted were taken already though, like JamesBond.com, 007.com and others.

I was actually surprised that BondMovies.com hadn't been taken, but nevertheless here I am today.
