http://www.godaddy.com is the best for registering a domain.

They're not the best web host in the world, though.

For one thing, they don't offer database solutions of any kind.

Ok you have your Disk Space and your Bandwidth.

Disk Space is how much room you have to fill up, like on your hard drive you can only put so much stuff before its full.

Bandwidth or monthly transfer is how much of that disk space can be downloaded or used a month. Say you have a file thats 2 mb and oyu have 50 mb of Bandwidth, you can only share that file 25 times a month before your account is frozen for going over Bandwidth. Your site shouldnt be to big, but all those little pictures and files you have will eat up your Bandwidth.

godaddy.com is good for registering domain names, but I dont know anything about there hosting. There are many other hosts for cheaper with more options that you can go to.

    Welcome to the boards .

If you want to use a PHP forum, you need a host that supports PHP, not asp. 2 GB monthly transfer means that you are allowed 2 GB of monthly traffic on your account. Traffic is defined as file uploads, file downloads (page views), email, etc. I would look in the Hosting Reviews section for a good host, there are better hosts out there than GoDaddy.

Forums require neither PHP nor ASP. There is forum software available in every thin-client programming language.

PHP just happens to be the most common.
