On 1&1's ( http://oneandone.co.uk/ ) domain page it states that they sell .co.uk domains for 1.99(!).

What I want to know is if there is anything hidden? Is it easy and does it cost to point your domains to your host etc?

be carful when a registra charges 1.99 for a domain name -- they have alot of hidden charges . it shouldnt cost to point your domain to your host --but some registra's charge for this -- also like godaddy they charge 19.99 to change the registrant name on a domain --

    Thanks.

After some reading I think that you have to host your website at 1&1 to register the domain there.

What about www.enom.com ? Has anybody got anything to say about them?

GoDaddy is not an option because I want to register a .co.uk

    thumbs up

I have been in other forums and everyone is talking about it but i havent heard from anyone that actually signed up. Is the website behind 1&1 ? or do you have to transfer a domain over?

I would recommend digitalspace.net. I have learned that nothing is free in life. exercise caution.

I know someone that has one and basically they don't allow you to change the DNS's yourself, meaning that your host (if isn't 1&1) has to spend time getting 1&1 to change them, which probably costs.

Most companies, however, won't charge you, it just depends upon the company and how many customer etc. they have.

The bad thing is that because 1&1 has so many customers, it does this tpo try and fool less knowing people into paying more money :dead:

For those in the U.S. 1&1 is offering 3 years of free hosting. I have signed up. Everything works OK. You don't have to register your domain with them if you don't want to.

    My only complaints so far:
    Control Panel really S LO W !
    No support.

You get what you pay for, I guess.

    My 2 cents.

Edit: Oops, forgot to post the link for U.S and Canadian users:

    This is not good!!

this is from their FAQS database

Can I have the DNS for my domain changed?

Unfortunately No OneAndOne do not change the name servers (DNS entries) to point to another host or IP address.

SO you're basically stuck there!!!! Not Good!!
