The time comes in every aspiring young mans life, where he buys a domain/hosting package. However, what do I buy? is .net for net companies? is .com just for US? Is .org just for organisations?

    What do you suggest?

    The site is a blog.

It is totally up to you, it doesn't really matter which one you get.

.com's are for everybody! If the domain you want is available as a .com, go for it. They are the most widely recognized, and you'll look more important with a .com.

Most people type .com out of instinct, I do when I try to come to this site anyway :P. So they're generally the best, but it's up to you tbh.

the orignal concept was to have .com for commercial business -- .net for personal use and .org for organization --

.gov for government and .edu for education -- but as time move on this concept was currupted by people registering what ever , so it really doesnt matter now days ...

you have alot of tlds out there -- .biz .tv .us and so on....

I only get COM, because it's the easiest to remember.

The only reserved suffices are GOV and EDU, so everything else is open.

For transio, I own the COM and the NET, just in case I wanted to set up a hosting site or whatever in the future. Other than that, I own all COMs, even my organization site (openedixml) is a COM.

most web users dont care what domain relates to what (.museum for a museum? who cares?),so long as when they type it, what they wanna see appears. just get something thts memorable, this usually means com or net

.net was supposed to be for networks, like ISPs and stuff (like you ) But no one really cares anymore, you can use what you like.

.com won't make you look important, but .coms might get you some more traffic since they are the most commonly used extension.
