    Hi...

I'm looking for a host because I am finally sick of the crap I have had so far. What I want is as follows:

    • about 1gig of space
    • about 10g/mth bandwidth - burstable with low overages
    • multiple domain hosting/domain pointers
    • PHP compiled with GD2 library and/or ImageMagick
    • mySQL database
    • fast support, email or phone
    • comprehensive set of perl modules
    • IMPORTANTLY: additional stuff installed on request!!! ie. if you don't have imagemagick installed by default, will you do it if I ask you to?
    • if not that then can I install them myself (can I have SSH access to the compiler)

Having read another thread on this forum i should perhaps clarify that what i mean by 'multiple domain hosting' is having lots of domains each pointing at a seperate directory of the hosting space, so I can run several sites off the same hosting space. I am currently paying 1&1 internet £8.99/mth for all of the above with the exception of the fact that they do not have GD2 or imagemagick (which i need for my galleries) and they will not install anything on request.

Can anyone help? I am prepared to pay a reasonable price.

Larpo, you have two choices. I can leave this thread where it is, and non-hosts (ie customers of good hosts) can post here and make recommendations. No hosts will be allowed to post an offer in this forum, because offers aren't allowed to be made here. OR, I can move this to the reqeust a service forum, and hosts can PM you offers, but no one will be able to post on your thread because only the original poster is allowed to post in threads in the Request a Service forum.

I saw this thread and left it here so others could recommend their hosts to you. If you want me to move it, just say the word. Also, check out this thread that Transio started asking for a good host. I still recommend the host that I recommended in there, Hostony.

I've been with Hostony for a couple months now, too, and I haven't had any problems yet. I say go for it if you don't mind the subdomain masking.

Yes, thanks... please move this thread so I can get some offers.

I have looked at Hostony, and their offer does seem to be very good value. They also respnd to support requests very quickly which is great.

Any other offers? UK based would be preferable so I can pay by debit card, but this is not essential.

First of all, according to that company's site, web designers can get space for FREE. 2nd of all, that's a huge price increase compared to what he was paying before. That's going from ~$16 USD to ~$120 USD...

Since they're your host, what do you think of them?

$120 a month for a Pentium III server? That's outrageous.

bluephyre.ca prices are in CAD so... the 10G bandwidth is 31$/month or approx. 300$ / year.

he's got everything you're looking for. doesn't support asp tho since it's a linux server.
