If I were to have let's say, US $500 to spend on hosting per month, what can I expect to get? What kind of plans? By this I mean, what kind of service, bandwidth, hard-disk space, etc. can I expect?

If you know what I can get with this much cash, please tell me where I can find superb hosting such as this, as well.

Dude...you got a nice problem there!

I rent a dedicated box myself and don't pay that much.

Just to give you an idea: http://www.sectorlink.com/Dedicated_...icated Servers. I'm on their ServBronze Win2K package with 20 extra Live Stats packs and 8 SQL Server shared databases.

So yeah, you can get something pretty hardcore. Don't even bother looking at anything else but a dedicated server.

$500 US to blow on a host each month? Hook a brother up.

I would, personally, go for $100-$200 dedicated server and use the remaining $300 for drink, drugs and loose women...

Well, perhaps not... but having never had $500/month to spend on hosting I had to find something useful to post... :-)

Let's take a look at Dual Xeon. $500 is a bit excessive, but since you asked...
You could get 2 of these:
    1 GB RAM - (2) 73GB Hard Drives
    1500 GB Monthly Transfer

Totalling up to 292GB of space and 3000GB bandwidth/month. That also comes with cPanel on a Red Hat Enterprise system.

Or, you could go one system w/ unlimited bandwidth and hire a sysadmin to manage it.

hahahah, nice man. I don't really have $500 a month, but http://www.bluekaffee.com says their hosting and stuff costs US $500, and they said it was coming out of their pockets the whole time.

They are so full of $!@$. Excuse my french.

EDIT: My plan is to uncover how badly they are shovelling $#@! to their users, because 500 is ALOT of cash per month.

Oh come on. A site with a PR2 in Google, implying few backlinks, not much graphically, and a small userbase? Yeah, $500 US per month sounds reasonable.

No you didn't. Mitch gagged you, and he has nothing to do with any of the hosting issues.

I'm actually glad people are disproving this bull**** from Stealthcat, as is Kaffee, whom I believe is pulling the plug from Exodian ASAP.
