A 500 error means Internal Server Error, which means that either PHP or MySQL is screwed up (since you said MySQL didn't work right at first I'm guessing this is the problem).

Did you install MySQL to c:\mysql?

    This is what I did:

I didn't easily resolve the mySQL problem a few posts above, so I downloaded PHPTriad. I installed it and mySQL started working...

So I really have no idea...

PHPTriad just reinstalls Apache/PHP/MySQL (usually with older versions, which is why I wrote the tutorial instead of suggesting that people download PHPTriad) which would certainly fix the problem.

If it is now, then I'm glad to hear it all worked out in the end

I have no idea how to fix the problem because I don't know how to fix the problem...should I upgrade mySQL and PHP to latest versions? If so, how?

My suggestion is that if PHPTriad is working then just stick with the versions that they gave you.

Well yes, but what is causing the problem I posted a few posts above about the 500 error?

If MySQL wasn't installed to c:\mysql then you'd have to make a my.cnf (I still haven't figured out how to do it even though it seems so simple). It can also be a problem with the lines you added in httpd.conf.

hey, havin a bit of a prob here.

i've installed apache alright and set my localhost, dir index file and all that stuff so my portfolio is the main page.

anyway, now that i have install php4 (don't ask me why i didn't download 5, i'm dumb and on dial up so i ain't going back to change it:thumbsup when i try to restart apache for the new effect to come in, it say the file ain't found?

i pput this in my httpd file

    Code:
    LoadModule php4_module php/sapi/php4apache2.dll
    AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml
    AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
i have checked that the files are all in the right place, i've even stuck a copy of that

    php4apache2.dll

file everywhere that is humanly possible and it still can't find it:ermm:
