    yeah i sure did. although im wondering if i should install it again, and here is why. I had to re-install Apache when I screwed something up, would doing that have affected something with mySql?

    It shouldn't have.

    Did you install MySQL to c:\mysql\ and run the command for installing it as a service?

    yeah i sure did. i even just went and took a look again, and it told the service was already installed and running. any ideas?

    At this point I'm stumped and can only suggest just reinstalling everything again and don't proceed when you hit an error.

    BTW the unlink() failed error is normal when installing locally on Windows, it seems.

    ok guys I found the fix, and I wanted to come and let you all know. What I ended up doing through the suggestion of a VBulletin team member was using localhost as my mysql server location instead of roody.homeip.net.

    Im not sure why that was the fix, but regardless it worked, and now I have my test forums. I do have one question though for you Filburt1 since I assume you have a test server also.

    What is the best way to do this? Did you reproduce your own boards offline, or do you have them totally different and just use them to test upgrades, hacks etc..?

    I do all template edits on a test board installed locally that is identical to this one (sans recent posts and such, of course), then every few days upload the style to this site.
